Therapy in Brief
Therapy sessions draw from a variety of theoretical approaches, including:

MINDFULNESS-BASED PRACTICE that uses body and present-moment awareness to identify emotional states and help with the tolerance of difficult experiences, leading ultimately to a sense of release and greater freedom in life. The tolerance of difficult emotions is key in developing a sense of safety and self-empathy, first in session and then, gradually, in “real life.”
EXISTENTIAL APPROACH that looks at and then through the client’s issues towards the bigger picture, namely, what is their understanding of life; what is the client’s idea of a meaningful, purposeful life; how does it differ from the life currently being lived; how can the client begin to live authentically in alignment with their values and need for creative and personal fulfillment.
ATTACHMENT THEORY looks at the client’s experience within a relationship and how it contributes to habits that interfere with intimacy.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY is another helpful method to consider self-narrative and comparing the client's ideas about their strengths and future prospects to alternative, perhaps more objective, evaluations.
